Where The Light Cannot Reach is the debut work by the American band Aterra. With average production and clear influences from renowned bands (at first, in the opening track, I even thought I was about to hear a Cradle Of Filth cover), the album is solid: drums and strings deliver, vocals are on point, but it lacks the substance to truly stand out.

Morbid Sound 666
The Hated Of The Gates Of Heaven is a raw black metal record with extremely poor production, nonexistent technique, and dreadful vocals. An almost unlistenable horror that I wanted to stop immediately!

Self-Release
A fine piece of black metal that begged for a fuller production. Still, it is a strong debut album that leaves me curious about the band’s future. Modern (and hooded) black metal, quite atmospheric and at times ritualistic, which could easily have been an excellent work if, as mentioned, the production was better.

Slam and brutal death with just the right touch of deathcore,by the book, with pig squeals, heaviness, breakdowns, and spine-crushing headbangs. Unfortunately, it doesn’t reinvent the wheel, but it replicates it very well.

Invocation Of The Raven
Full Length

Sturmglanz Black Metal Manufaktur
Räven’s Invocation of the Raven is a dark and atmospheric entry into the black metal scene, blending traditional raw intensity with an almost ritualistic sense of mood. The album builds on classic tremolo-picked riffs, blast beats, and piercing vocals, but what makes it different is its use of haunting interludes and layered atmospherics that give it a strong narrative flow. However, while these touches add atmosphere, the album as a whole does not break new ground within the black metal genre.

The eighth release by Runenwacht is a solid dose of black metal. Although it has some inspired moments, it does not stray from the comfort of generic black metal and, at times, features riffs that strongly recall Satyricon.

Heart Of The Sunwinds
Full Length

Dominance of Darkness Records
Hearts Of The Sunwinds is a peculiar black metal work, with various spontaneous and different details. It moves through gothic, atmospheric passages, clean vocals, harsh vocals, and more... At times, it almost feels like we are listening to another band. A bittersweet mix that was not fully accomplished, yet still carries something attractive.

A fine piece of modern deathened black metal with solid production. The musical composition is interesting and dystopian, featuring guttural vocals and clean choirs. It stands out, captures attention with excellent execution, and is a pleasant surprise that calls for repeated listens.
